Felt pen outdoor sketches

Sometimes I take a sketchbook with me all the times and draw a lot. Then may pass by months without sketching anything. Some months ago I started a little sketchbook to do drawings outside with felt-tip pens. I am exploring different ways to use them: in colour blocks and layers, more scribbly or more reduced, finding patterns and shapes. The last one is what I most would like to achieve and what most difficult is for me. I want my drawings to be more precise, calm, balanced, elegant.
I admire the work of artist Jill Bliss.

A veces llevo un cuaderno de dibujo conmigo siempre y dibujo mucho. Luego pueden pasar meses sin dibujar nada. Hace algunos meses empecé un pequeño cuaderno para hacer dibujos al aire libre con rotuladores. Estoy explorando diferentes maneras de utilizarlos: bloques de color y capas, más suelto o más reducido, encontrando patrones y formas. Lo último es lo que más me gustaría conseguir y a la vez lo que más me cuesta. Quiero que mis dibujos sean más precisos, tranquilos, equilibrados, elegantes.

7 days/7 colours: today´s colour is light blue.
Here in Madrid we have almost every day a really beautiful blue sky. Madrilenians have a typical proverb that says, "from Madrid to heaven"!
And look how the city is already preparing for christmas: streets and plazas are decorated with feastful ilumination. However the lights won´t glow until 25th november. The turning-on of the lights is an official event in presence of the governing mayor. Due to the economical crisis there are much less lights than before and the lightbulbs are now LED.

7 días/7 colores: el color de hoy es el azul claro.
Aquí en Madrid tenemos casí todos los días un precioso cielo azul celeste. Además los madrileños tienen un proverbio popular que dice ¡de Madrid al cielo! Mirad como la ciudad se está preparando ya para las navidades: calles y plazas son decorados con decoración y luces navideñas, aunque no serán encendidas hasta el próximo 25 de noviembre. El Encendido de las luces de Navidad es siempre un acontecimiento público y se hace en presencia del alcalde. Debido a la crisis económica y el recorte de gastos, ahora hay mucho menos luces que antes y ahora son luces LED para ahorrar energía también.

Sketchcrawl Madrid II

Last sunday the sketchcrawl lead us to Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. This time with the famous spanish illustrator Alfredo González, a master craftsman and  admirable person who told us from the adventure to draw in the whole world, like in New York and Panama. Go here to see his work.

El domingo pasado el paseo para dibujar Madrid nos llevó a Puerta del Sol y Plaza Mayor. Esta vez la actividad fue guiada por el gran maestro Alfredo González, el ilustrador español más importante de su generación y una maravillosa persona. Sketchcrawl Madrid

I am joining the activity "Dibuja Madrid" (draw Madrid) offered by the ABC museum. Unfortunately I have learned too late about the activity, so that I missed the first weekends. The activity includes a talk with a well-respected illustrator saturday evenings and on sunday you go on a sketchcrawl through a Madrid neighbourhood guided by the same illustrator who also is drawing there. It was very intimidating for me to draw in public and that professional illustrators would see what I am doing, but I think most important is to participate! Yesterday we drawed in Lavapiés, a very centrical and popular neighbourhood of Madrid. I found it so interesting to see other people draw and especially our guide, illustrator Antonia Santolaya. Estoy participando en una actividad ofrecida por el museo ABC, "Dibuja Madrid". Lamentablemente me enteré demasiado tarde, así que me perdí los primeros fines de semana. La actividad consiste en una charla los sábados por la tarde impartida por un ilustrador de reconocido prestigio y en paseos para dibujar Madrid los domingos por la mañana, acompañados por el ilustrador. Me resultó bastante intimandte de dibujar en público y que otros y además ilustradores profesionales viesen mis dibujos, ¡pero creo que lo más importante es participar! Ayer dibujamos el barrio de Lavapiés, muy popular barrio del centro de Madrid. Me encantó ver a dibujar a mis compañeros y sobre todo, ver como dibujaba la ilustradora Antonia Santolaya, nuestra guía. Heroines - Heroínas - Heldinnen

I highly recommend this wonderful exhibition I visited last saturday with my dear friends Tina and Elena: "Heroines" in the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum and Caja Madrid Foundation in Madrid. Don´t miss it if you are in Madrid! Until 5th june 2011.

Os recomiendo esta maravillosa exposición que fui a ver con mis amigas Tina y Elena el sábado pasado. "herónas" en el museo Thyssen-Bornemisza en Madrid y en la Fundación Caja Madrid. ¡Si estás en Madrid no te lo pierdas! Hasta el 5 de junio 2011.
