today is the last day of this short month. and the last day of the daily painting challenge i joined with these amazing ladies: dana, claire, elisa and janet. it was an honor painting with you!!
i didn´t paint 28 paintings. there are 16 little paintings. and i am ok with a painting "every other day". if i hadn´t taken this challenge, there wouldn´t be 16 little pieces here. good bye february! you have been an interesting, creative and good month, thank you!

hoy es el último día de este mes tan corto. y el último día del desafío de daily painting que hice junto a unas chicas maravillosas. dana, claire, elisa y janet - ¡va a por vosotras! ha sido un honor pintar con vosotras.
no he llegado a hacer 28 pinturas. pero aquí están 16 pequeñas piecas y estoy contenta con haber conseguido hacer una pintura "cada otro día". adiós febrero, has sido un mes interesante, creativo y bueno, ¡gracias!

another black and white today with ink. i am sticking with picking an image out of a magazine. the girls´ heads turned out huge.

today´s paintings (or drawings?): new medium, new subjects. black and white, ink on paper. i flipped through a magazine and decided spontaneously on the first images which caught my eye. below the drawings and the Kunstforum magazine pages.

las pinturas (¿o mejor dibujos?) de hoy: nuevo medio, nuevos sujetos. blanco y negro, tinta en papel. iba hojeando una revista y decidí espontáneamente sobre las primeras fotos que me llamaron la atención. abajo los dibujos y las páginas de la revista Kunstforum.

Hi there, I am back! I have been on a retreat in Berlin these days, a very intense experience! I did some little watercolour paintings there and although I am behind now with the daily paintings, I wanted to share them here with you and go back to the daily routing from today on!

today a quick composition, this time with very washy colours and thin layers. i am not at all satisfied with the result, i can do this better. but it is what came out today. so who cares? if you´re hungry, how about the kind of fried egg right in the middle?

sitting in the metro today i found an envelope hidden in my notepad with postcards of kandinsky paintings i bought in munich around christmas. i took one of them as an inspiration for today´s painting. another abstract composition with this weeks colour palette. see also the inspiration postcard below.

decided to stick with the same colour palette during the whole week. although on paper it comes out very differently. today only a quick and random painting, all shapes came up spontaneously. i apologize for the bad image quality, my camera seems to abandon service and the paper pad is too big for my scanner.

he decidido de seguir con la misma gama de colores durante toda la semana, aunque en papel salen muy diferente. hoy solo una pintura rápida y espontánea, todas las formas iban así surgiendo. perdonad la mala calidad de la imágen, mi cámara parece ir muriéndose y el bloc de papel es demasiado grande para mi escáner.

as i started 2 days late for the daily painting project, i started today nº 1 + nº 2 at the same time. nº 2 is finished now, too. and i´ll go to bed...it´s sooo late again. i am such a night owl...tomorrow, i have so much to do..dentist, preparing and teaching a german class outside the city in a big company, a workshop at night (on self-development)

como he empezado con 2 días de retraso el proyecto de daily painting, he empezado nº 1 + nº 2 a la vez. nº 2 está terminado ahora también y me voy a la cama...otra vez tan tarde. soy tan noctambula...mañana tengo tantas cosas que hacer..ir al dentista, preparando e impartiendo una clase de alemán fuera de la ciudad en una empresa grande, un taller por la noche (sobre desarrollo personal)

i am late to start with the daily painting project i´ve joined together with dana - but better late then never! although i wanted to do quick paintings and usually i paint more loose and organic shapes, today i was drawn to experiment with squares and rectangles, totally new for me but i am having fun! you can turn around the painting as you like.

llego tarde con el projecto "daily painting" que hago con dana - ¡pero mejor tarde que nunca! aunque quería hacer pinturas rápidas y más suelto, con formas más orgánicas, hoy me ha dado por experimentar con cuadrados y rectángulos, algo totalmente nuevo para mí, pero me lo he pasado bien. se puede girar el cuadro como quieras.

i´ve started a sketchbook again! Yet,  i am not very happy with my scanner, you see. dana barbieri will start a daily painting project on february 1st and i am determined to join! this will be the first time i am going to do a daily painting project and i feel exited about it!

new year*new blog name

Happy New Year to all of you!!! Hopefully 2013 will be a great year for all of us.

I changed the name of this blog..if you can´t remember, it was called "Studio Tante B". This didn´t at all feel right, because "Studio" sounded too ambicious - I don´t have an art or graphic studio, I am just a little hobby artist, that´s all. And the "Tante" (means aunt in german), I wanted to change her, too. I am a very very proud auntie to 1 niece and 3 nephews, but hey, calling me here an auntie felt suddenly so cranky to me - still I am at an age to be a mother, too and I hope (**absolute number 1 on my personal wishlist**) to someday have children myself.
Ok then, a new name. I wanted to change the blogname time ago, but never had an idea. So just some minutes ago I changed it to almost the first word that came up. Welcome to bleibmaldabei!! It´s german (like me), I liked the sound and it also has some good meanings, somehow difficult to describe if you don´t speak german. I try to explain a bit: bleib mal dabei = something like "stick with this". This came up and as of now felt right for me, as it reminds me to just try to be more persistent. Also "mal" is the imperative of malen, which means to paint, and I like it that this verb is hidden here, as this is supposed to be an artsy blog and I am a (hobby) painter. So if you take the three words separately: bleib*mal*dabei, you can translate it to "stay*paint*be present", cool, isnt´t it?
Still I even don´t know if i will stick with the blog, I have to figure out what to share and when. I don´t want to bore you and there are so many excellent blogs out there, I just know that what I am doing here still is neither fish nor fowl. For the moment, this place has a new name that fits better, I think. And I am happy for everyone of you stepping by here once in a while. Thank you for being here!
